Laveni Vaka's professional career has already taken her from the United States to Mexico while making history for Tonga along the way.
After an All-American career at BYU, Vaka was selected by Bay FC in the 2024 NWSL Draft before signing with Fort Lauderdale United FC. The move made her the first Tongan woman to play professional soccer. She earned Gainbridge Super League All-League Second Team honors during her rookie season before an ACL injury interrupted her 2025 campaign. Vaka returned during the 2025/26 season and worked her way back into Fort Lauderdale's back line.
In the summer of 2026, Vaka signed with Club Santos Laguna ahead of the Liga MX Femenil Apertura. The move was part of HSM's summer roster work and added another country and league to HSM's growing international representation footprint. Vaka started Santos' opening match against Club América, making her competitive debut for Las Guerreras.
Internationally, Vaka has represented Tonga's senior national team since 2018, including appearances at multiple OFC Women's Nations Cup tournaments.
